Mill Creek Residential is seeking a candidate for the Assistant Portfolio Manager (APM) position to be located in our Dallas, TX office (other major MCR office locations may be considered). The APM will report to the Vice President of Portfolio Management and will be responsible for a variety of activities including but not limited to, investor communications, internal and external reporting, financial modeling, project/portfolio underwriting and analysis, market research, and legal document negotiation, review and interpretation. This position will have regular interaction with investors, consultants and executive management, including responding to direct inquiries, delivering required reporting, communicating results, and providing perspective on existing and proposed investment opportunities. A proactive and adaptive attitude is required for this highly visible role.



Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review quantitative and qualitative reports and projections
  • Coordinate, prepare and review investor packages and recommendations
  • Analyze current and past financial performance at the project and portfolio level
  • Prepare and communicate investor presentations and external compliance metrics
  • Create, modify and analyze project and portfolio level investment models
  • Understand and create joint venture waterfall structures/return projections
  • Participate and coordinate annual planning and budgeting process for assigned portfolios
  • Stay informed on macro and micro market industry trends and patterns
  • Special projects and all other duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 4 – 7 years of RE portfolio management, asset management, or financial analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, accounting, real estate or similar degree preferred
  • MBA, MSRE, or CFA preferred but not required


Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Multifamily real estate experience
  • Multifamily development industry experience preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects and coordinate multiple teams to complete assignments
  • Understanding of and ability to analyze financial statements, proforma models and JV waterfall structures
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to learn and navigate various software applications
